- Facilities: Saxton Hut is located at about 1, 010 m in the remote Molesworth Recreation Reserve, managed by the Department of Conservation. Originally built in 1968 as Quartz Creek Hut and relocated twice before its 2012 reassembly, it now offers six bunks warmed by a wood burner and simple long-drop facilities. Water comes from a rain‑fed tank—boil before drinking—and access involves river crossings along the Leatham–Molesworth route.
