Built in 1926 by CAI Venezia with support from the Chiggiato family and local women, it now hosts around 37 beds plus 4 winter bunks under the care of Sara Laguna and Silvio Piazza. Modern comforts and a welcoming restaurant make it a refined mountain retreat.

It stands on a grassy knoll at Pala del Bèco, just below the summit of Col Negro. The refuge was inaugurated in 1926, and in 1986 the Contin bivouac was added. It is located along the Alta Via delle Dolomiti no. 5.
