French Ridge Hut Guide

- Facilities: French Ridge Hut sits at about 1, 470 m on a ledge beneath Mt French in Mount Aspiring National Park. Owned by the New Zealand Alpine Club and managed by DOC, it offers 20 bunks, solar lighting, a water tank and a long-drop toilet in a dramatic alpine setting. Built in 1999 to replace earlier huts, it’s a scenic stop en route to Bonar Glacier or Mount Aspiring, reached via a steep climb from Pearl Flat.
