Curtis Memorial Hut Guide

- Facilities: Curtis Memorial Hut stands at about 785 m in the Hakatere (Rangitata–Rakaia Rivers) area of Canterbury. Donated by the Curtis family in memory of their son, it replaced the older McDonald Hut in the 1980s and was refreshed in 2017. Managed by DOC, this snug four‑bunk shelter offers a wood‑burner, mattresses, rain‑water supply (boil before use) and a long‑drop toilet, reached only by self‑navigated backcountry travel.
