- Facilities: Castle Rock Hut rests at about 720 m amid the inland ridges of Abel Tasman National Park. Managed by the Department of Conservation, this eight‑bunk refuge was prefabricated and airlifted into place in 1958, later refreshed in the 2010s. Accessible via a steep 5–6 hour tramp from Mārahau along the Inland Track, it offers basic comforts—mattresses, a wood‑burner and untreated tap water—amid quiet forest solitude.
