Bluff Hut Guide

- Facilities: Bluff Hut sits at about 925 m in the upper Hokitika basin, managed by the Department of Conservation. Built in 2009 to replace an unstable 1960s NZFS shelter, it now offers six bunks, a wood‑burner and basic comforts like mattresses and a long‑drop toilet. Access is via a steep, scenic route from Poet or Frew Saddle, and the hut commands sweeping tussock‑clad views.
