  • Facilities: Anne Hut is tucked at about 890 m on a windswept river terrace in Canterbury’s St James Conservation Area. Managed by DOC, this modern serviced hut replaced its fire‑destroyed predecessor in 2011 and offers around 20 bunks, a wood‑burner and basic non‑flush toilets, with untreated tap water that must be boiled. It’s a popular stop on the St James Walkway and Te Araroa Trail, reached via the Henry River valley.
