Wilson Peak is the dominant peak on the west side of highway 145. Like its higher neighbor, Mount Wilson, Wilson Peak is named after A.D. Wilson of the Hayden Survey. Although a good bit of exposed scrambling is required to reach its summit, Wilson Peak is considered easier to climb than its two higher neighbors, Mount Wilson and El Diente.
