Pizzo Camino is the fourth highest mountain (the first three peaks are Concarena, Presolana and Arera) in the range usually known as Prealpi Bergamasche, a section of the southern Central Alps. The majestic white pyramid of Pizzo Camino overlooks upper Scalve Valley, where the main center is Schilpario, at 3688 ft. (1124 mt.). This little tourist resort is very close to the peak. The normal route is a little more difficult than a walk from the village of Grumello, 1/2 mi south of Schilpario, a foot track leads up to Epolo farm in about 1h, from where another path goes up over the treeline. The last section of the route is done directly on the rock, a bright limestone (the same type of rock that characterizes Concarena and Bagozza peaks). In this section of the climb, handholds may be required but only to pass short vertical steps, and ropes should be left home! The climb can be faced also from the southern slope from Borno (2992 ft, 912 mt.) trough Lake Lova (4265 ft, 1300 mt) and Laeng Hut (f774 ft., 1760 mt.), then to the summit. On the whole, the climb takes about 4h from Schilpario and 4h30' from Borno, following the easiest routes.
