Pic Long is the highest peak of the Pyrenees located entirely in France. It is the high peak of the Nouvielle massif, which spreads its uplands over a vast area just north of the border, near Monte Perdido. Pic Long is just one of several attractive peaks on the massif, and its steep north face is an impressive sight from Lac de Cap de Long, a beautiful mountain lake where the normal route to the summit begins.
