This Mount Redoubt is located in the Chilliwack Group in the remote northern reaches of North Cascades National Park, and is situated just 3 miles south of the US-Canada Border. Mount Redoubt is a dominating peak with 1649 feet of prominence, and it is listed as the 20th highest peak in Washington state. Redoubt is in an area of intense glaciation which spans to Mount Spickard 3 miles to the east. Redoubt is situated at the head of Redoubt Creek, Bear Creek, and Depot Creek. Any approach is long and difficult, but the popular easiest approach is from the Canadian side of the international border via Chilliwack Lake and Depot Creek. Therefore, it should not come as a surprise that this US mountain was first ascended by Canadian climbers Jimmy Cherry and Bob Ross in 1930. Rock is Skagit Gneiss.Refer to Fred Beckey's Cascade Alpine Guide, Volume 3, for complete approach and route descriptions.
