    Hello dear friends,
Me and some friends we want to climb on the top of Olympus mountain at the end of April.
We have all the equipment for climbing in winter conditions but I want to have your opinion about weather conditions during that period.
If you can help me with some information, thanks in advance.

    Hello Tal,

I did the Olympus mountain the last two days. You need just good hiking shoes, if you like: "telescope sticks" and warm clothes to stay up there over night. You don't need ropes crampons or ice axes (there is no ice up there at this time). Some people wear helmets for their own safety (falling stones). These helmets can also be rent e.g. at refuge SEO Apostolidis (2760m).

Prepare your path and make a reservation for your over night stay at the refuge by call in advance, as during summer period and on weekends it might be crowded up there.

Usually you don't need to carry a sleeping bag with you, as blankets etc. are provided at the refuge, but I felt more convenient with my own sleeping bag. One over nigth stay costs about 12- 14€ and as far as I know there is no hot water available at most refuges (no shower).

I recommend, carry 2-3L of drinking water with you, when you start your hike.

    Hello
I'll be coming to climb the mountain on the 29/5 30/5 so I have couple of questions:
    1. Do I need crampons and ice axe?
    2. If I sleep in the hut, do I need sleeping bag?
    3. Do I need ropes for the last part of the climb?

    Thanks Tal azulay
