Rising close to Mount Kazbek in the central Greater Caucasus, Djimara is a sharply defined, heavily glaciated peak marking the rugged spine of the Georgia–Russia border region. Its steep faces and complex ice fields contrast with Kazbek’s broader volcanic form, giving the massif a more alpine, jagged character. Seen from the south, Djimara stands as a formidable high-mountain presence above the upper Terek headwaters — remote, severe, and unmistakably Caucasian.
