Framed here with the adjacent summit of Gora Sherkhota (3 670 m / 12 041 ft), Kazbek dominates the high Greater Caucasus north of Gudauri. Together, the twin peaks define the glaciated heart of the Kazbegi massif, where volcanic bulk and sharp alpine relief meet — a stark, high-altitude landscape visible from the upper reaches of Gudauri ski resort, and a clear marker of Georgia’s transition into true Caucasian high mountain terrain.
