Hi, everyone!
A friend and I are thinking about hiking Mount Fuji beginning or mid April. We are aware that the safest time is summer but this is the time we will be visiting.
We will both be properly equipped and have used crampons & axe before.
Is anybody else climbing during this time?
If conditions are not favorable, we will not summit.

Went up the Fujinomiya trail Thursday 7/12/13. Trail is clear and well groomed.
I stayed at the top lodge Friday night. The accommodations at the top lodge were kinda sparse and cramped (about 40 people per room), like a pack of sardines in a can! I got a little altitude sickness staying so long at the top hut. Next time I will sleep at a lower hut to avoid spending so much time at the top.
Sunrise was ok, I missed being at the proper point for the best view.
On the way down I'm sure I passed 2,000 people climbing up and the trail was packed.

Started at the 5th station on 6/6/13. Trail was clear to the 7th station, reports of ice at the 8th station so we turned back before it was too late.
The trails are clear to the 7th station with a little snow in the shelters.
