Banner Peak is the second highest summit in the Ritter Range, a subrange of the Sierra Nevada. Routes range from scrambles to technical rock and ice. The summit is most commonly reached via the Banner/Ritter saddle, located south of the peak. Summit views are extensive. Care must be taken as the metamorphic rock comprising the mountain is sometimes unstable. Rockfall is common.
