Located behind the big Grande Dixence reservoir, the often visited cabin is used for ascents around Mt. Blanc de Cheilon and Pigne d'Arolla, as well as for one-day hikes and as a stopover on the Valais Haute Route. There are attractive access trails for mountain hikers from Arolla across Col de Riedmatten or Pas de Chèvres, followed by a glacier crossing to the cabin. With state of the art hydrogen technology the cabin is being transformed into an energy self-sufficient building.
