Starting point for all the summits of the Balfrin range as well as Nadelgrat and high alpine cols. There are Alpine hikes to Klein and Gross Bigerhorn. The access from the tourist destination Grächen crosses the glacier on a flat spot, a great experience for hikers used to hiking on ice (signposted in summer). There is a view from the cabin into the icy world of Riedgletscher and of herds of Alpine ibex (bouquetins) in the environs.
