Navajo Mountain Climbing Notes

Steve Allen from UNITED STATES writes:

Navajo Mountain is not open to hiking or climbing. Closed areas on the Navajo Nation are listed at NavajoNationParks.org. Then click over to Regulations.

Do note that you can go to the local Chapter House and get a permit for Navajo Mountain. That does not mean that you are allowed there. The Navajo Nation is not the National Park Service and things are run a bit differently, and sometimes a bit chaotically. Locals know what is open and what is closed and will not appreciate you being there, with or without a permit.
