Description
Mount Ellinor is located in the Very Southeast corner of the Olympic Range. It is adjacent to 6255 Mount Washington in the Mount Skokomish Wilderness Area. Mount Ellinor is not incredibly tall but it is a steep and rugged climb to the summit. There are two trails to the summit. The shorter one is 1.7 miles and gains over 3,000 feet in that short hike. The view from the summit is incredible with views of all of Washington's big mountains including Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, Mount Adams, Mount Baker, Glacier Peak and the North Cascades. The view north from the summit composes of the major Olympic Peaks Mount Olympus, The Brothers, Mount Constance, Sawtooth Ridge, Mount Skokomish, Mount Pershing, Mount Washington, Mount Stone, Mount Anderson, Mount Duckabush, Big and Littly Mystery...from there on it's hard to tell. But most of the major Olympic Peaks are visible. The view to the south is of Lake Cushman, and the Hood Canal area. Looking to the east Seattle is visible and Puget Sound. The experience of climbing this mountain is well worth the hard hike!
