Scramble
The highest summit in the Arabian Peninsula. The North Summit which is the true highest point is occupied by a military base but the South Summit is recorded to be approximately 20m lower at about 2990m. This has a trig point like structure on top with a map orientating you to the surroundings. For instance where Mecca, Jebel Misht and Jebel Kawr (second highest mountain in Oman) are. The approach can be made from the entrance of Wadi Ghul following a marked trekking path W6 to Al Khateem and then further along on trekking path W4 to the summit. This trek is pretty hard especially when the sun comes out, so early start is recommended. You can camp near Al Khateem at a nearby campsite or you can drive to Al Khateem and start there. There is another route which is W6a to an abandonned Bedouin village in the side of the Grand Canyon.
